My Prediction: January 2013
In seasons previous to Spring 2013, I have seen sheer fabrics become a prominent feature in blouses, skirts, and dresses. For a few years now, I have seen girls sporting the sheer trend in different ways from layering garments underneath to letting their lingerie show through, furthering the promiscuity of this trend. I predict that this trend will remain a part of the fashion cycle for many future seasons. Although sheer garments may not be weather appropriate for fall and winter, I think designers will continue to modify this trend to suit consumers need for functionality. I believe this trend has been and will remain to be popular in fashion because it allows females to show some skin without being too revealing and leaves them feeling like they can show off certain body parts while concealing others. Sheer fabrics are also very breathable during the warmer months and provide a sense of flow and freedom to an outfit. This trend has been widely accepted mostly by a young adult and even a bit older demographic. It has remained in fashion for so long probably because of its profound acceptance by the public. I have seen it in every department store and mom and pop shop around.
